Below The Radar – LEAD Act
United States – -(AmmoLand.com)- Attacks on our right to keep and bear arms don’t just take the form of gun bans or universal background checks. If anything, anti-Second Amendment extremists have always been scheming to find ways to make it harder to exercise our rights, and some of them are quite diabolical in the way many Second Amendment supporters do not see them coming.
One such bill is HR 405, the LEAD Act, introduced by Ted Lieu, a congressman from California (no surprise, a Democrat). In this case LEAD stands for Lead Endangers Animals Daily, and it bans the use of traditional ammunition on lands that the United States Fish and Wildlife Service has jurisdiction over. For a first offense, there is a $500 fine, with additional offenses leading to fines from $1,000 to $5,000.
The Daines bill would make it clear that transporting weapons and ammunition encompasses “staying in temporary lodging overnight, stopping for food, fuel, vehicle maintenance, an emergency, medical treatment, and any other activity incidental.”
The legislation also ensures that legal owners “may not be arrested for violations of local laws relating to ‘the possession, transportation, or carrying of firearms’ unless there is probable cause.”
The issue isn’t hypothetical: The National Rifle Association, legal groups and moving companies have for years warned about transporting firearms between states in the Northeast.
“Unfortunately, FOPA’s protections have been found to be weaker in the Northeast,” said the American Moving & Storage Association on its website. “In New York, where gun laws are particularly strict, the State Police don’t always recognize FOPA, and have arrested gun owners traveling through New York even if they were in compliance.”

Below The Radar – Closing the Loophole on Interstate Firearm Sales Act
Washington D.C. – -(AmmoLand.com)- To anti-Second Amendment extremists, anything that allows a law-abiding American citizen to exercise their Second Amendment rights is a “loophole.” Second Amendment supporters, though, often find people questioning this mindset – often because they don’t know the current laws, how little they are enforced, or what anti-Second Amendment extremists ultimately want to subject this country to.
Well, Second Amendment supporters now have a concrete example of this mindset from anti-Second Amendment extremists, and they can thank Representative Jason Crow (D-CO). Crow has introduced HR 647, the Closing the Loophole on Interstate Firearm Sales Act, with nine co-sponsors.
