Our view: A responsible plan comes from Grand Forks School Facilities Task Force
As budgets tighten, the district cannot throw good money at bad investments. It is inevitable that new schools will take the place of old ones.

A saying in the news business is “don’t shoot the messenger.” Remember that as the Grand Forks School District’s Facilities Task Force comes forth with its recommendations after months of planning.
● Closing Valley and West, since renovation of those aging buildings is no longer an option.
● Consolidating several schools on the city’s north side, including Valley Middle School, West Elementary, Wilder Elementary and Winship Elementary, and replacing them with a new K-8 facility at the Valley site.
