Norwich City Hall to get new roofing tiles

NORWICH Despite all of the effort and money, Norwich Public Works Director Patrick McLaughlin believes it is important for the city to maintain its City Hall. “Norwich City Hall is one of the nicest city halls in New England, if not the whole country,” McLaughlin said. Earlier this week, the Norwich City Council approved for City Manager John Salomone to apply for a grant of up to $100,000 from the State Historic Preservation Office for the replacement of slate tiles on the roof of Norwich City Hall, dating back to when it was built in the 1870s. McLaughlin said work on the roof would start this summer, likely by June.

CALUMET, Mich. (AP) An Upper Peninsula cafe has been found in contempt of court and fined $2,500 for continuing to serve indoor diners. It's the latest turn in an effort to get Cafe Rosetta to comply with coronavirus restrictions. Judge Wanda Stokes says civil disobedience is “not an option.” Stokes held a hearing Friday involving the cafe, which serves soup, sandwiches and more in Calumet in Houghton County.
