NORWICH Despite all of the effort and money, Norwich Public Works Director Patrick McLaughlin believes it is important for the city to maintain its City Hall.
“Norwich City Hall is one of the nicest city halls in New England, if not the whole country,” McLaughlin said.
Earlier this week, the Norwich City Council approved for City Manager John Salomone to apply for a grant of up to $100,000 from the State Historic Preservation Office for the replacement of slate tiles on the roof of Norwich City Hall, dating back to when it was built in the 1870s.
McLaughlin said work on the roof would start this summer, likely by June.
