Here s how pharmacies could boost Australia s COVID vaccine rollout

State data shows low vaccination rates for staff at area nursing homes

Pennsylvania has been in Phase 2 of its vaccine rollout for weeks now, but while all residents in the commonwealth can now get a vaccine, some of Beaver County’s most vulnerable populations may still remain unprotected. The state Department of Health’s April survey on COVID-19 vaccinations in skilled nursing facilities indicates that quite a few residents and staffers at area nursing homes were left unvaccinated last month after many staffers refused a vaccine, and, weeks later, may still be defenseless against the virus. The survey followed the March completion of the Federal Pharmacy Partnership for Long-term Care Program (FPPLCP), which worked to get nursing home populations immunized by providing at least three vaccine clinics in all participating facilities, including those in Beaver County.

Out-of-state vaccinations encouraged to report; CVS accepting walk-ins

Out-of-state vaccinations encouraged to report; CVS accepting walk-ins Health officials are encouraging Monroe County residents who received one or both of their COVID-19 vaccines in a state other than Michigan to report it locally. Officials with the Monroe County Health Department (MCHD) are asking those who received out-of-state vaccinations to visit their offices on S. Custer at Herr Road so the information can be entered in the State of Michigan’s Immunization Registry. Meanwhile, CVS has announced it is accepting walk-ins for vaccinations with no appointment necessary. And as of Wednesday, more than 50% of Michigan residents over age 16, or about 4.12 million, have received at least one dose, the governor’s office reported.

Informed? Yes. Many Americans think this fifth day in May celebrates Independence Day in Mexico, but it actually commemorates the date of the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. While not a major holiday in Mexico, Cinco de Mayo has become a popular commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage here in the United States, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations.
