IHC rejects petitions to stop auction of Nawaz’s property Top Story May 20, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court Wednesday rejected the petitions filed by former premier Nawaz Sharif and others, seeking court directives for stopping the auction of their properties deeming them inadmissible. Divisional bench of the Islamabad High Court comprising Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri and Justice Amir Farooq, in a short decision said the applicants have the alternate platform and they can go to the trial court to stop the auction of the properties of the former prime minister. The court said due to availability of an alternate forum the high court cannot hear the petitions according to Article 109 of the Constitution. Earlier, Qazi Misbah, counsel for the former prime minister, argued before the court that the purpose of auctioning proclaimed offender’s property was to force him to surrender.

IHC reserves decision on maintainability of petitions against auction of Nawaz Sharif s property Wed 19th May 2021 | 05:10 PM ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2021 ) :A division bench of Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday reserved its judgment on maintainability of petitions challenging auction of former prime ministerNawaz Sharif s property in toshakhana corruption reference. A division bench comprising Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri took up the cases against the confiscation and auction of Nawaz Sharif s property under the decision of an accountability court. The three separate petitions were filed by Mian Iqbal Barkat, Aslam Aziz and Muhammad Ashraf Malik through their counsel Qazi Misbah to IHC.

IHC single member bench comprising Chief Justice Athar Minallah earlier dismissed the petition filed by former Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani against rejection of seven votes which were polled in his favor but were rejected since the voters stamped his name instead of blank space. Gillani was seeking court’s direction to set aside the decision of Presiding Officer who conducted the election for the seat of chairman Senate.

National April 15, 2021 ISLAMABAD: On a petition of PPP leader Yusuf Raza Gillani challenging the rejection of his seven votes in the Senate chairman election, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday served notices on respondents on an intra-court appeal. A division bench of the Islamabad High Court comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri heard the appeal against the decision of a single bench. Gillani s lawyer Farook H Naek appeared before the court and adopted the stance that the single bench had dismissed their case on two grounds. He argued that the election was held under Article 60 and the Senate used to prepare rules under Article 67 of the Constitution.
