A writ petition has been filed with the High Court seeking directions to set up an independent commission to probe allegations of misconduct against members of the police and other law-enforcement agencies. );

Lawyer Mohammad Shishir Monir filed the writ petition on Sunday on behalf of more than 100 Supreme Court advocates on Sunday.
The matter could be heard by the bench of Justice Md Mozibur Rahman Miah and Justice Md Kamrul Hossain Mollah, he said.
The writ petition seeks an interim order for the formation of a committee comprising retired judges, former inspector general of police, retired secretaries, law teachers and members of civil society.

The High Court has issued a status quo for three months on encroachment, land grabbing, earth filling and operating brick kilns on Bhadra and Hori rivers in Khulna s Dumuria upazila.
In response to a writ petition filed by Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB), the court yesterday ordered the authorities concerned of the government to submit a report after complying with the directive.
The writ petitioner said the lawmaker from Khulna-5 constituency (Dumuria-Phultola) and former Fisheries and Livestock Minister Narayan Chandra Chanda, Dumuria upazila Chairman Ajaz Ahmed, local union parishad Chairman Humayun Kabir Bulu and many others are reportedly involved with the encroachment, land grabbing and operating brick kilns in river land areas.

However, the court did not issue any order over an appeal to ban the broadcast of the Doha-based channel in Bangladesh.
The virtual High Court bench of Justice Md Mozibur Rahman Miah and Justice Md Kamrul Hossain Mollah passed the order on Wednesday following the hearing of six amici curiae and the statement from the state’s chief law officer on Wednesday.
