DENVER â According to online court records, two former police officers in Loveland, Colorado, face charges in connection to the arrest of a 73-year-old woman with dementia last year.
Former police officers Austin Hopp, 26, and Daria Jalali, 27, are facing charges ranging from second-degree assault to official misconduct. Karen Garner, 73, says she suffered a broken arm and a dislocated shoulder in the arrest.
The court records show Hopp faces charges of second-degree assault causing serious bodily injury, attempt to influence a public servant and official misconduct. The first two charges are felonies.

The investigation into an officer involved shooting, which resulted in the death of a 26-year-old woman on Highway 92 near Hotchkiss, is still ongoing, but may be turned over to the District Attorneyâs office in a matter of weeks.
Montrose Police Sgt. Billy Stroup, who is the coordinator of the 7th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team, said the case is proceeding, but it will be a few weeks before it is ready to pass on to the District Attorneyâs Office.
The 7th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is made up of members of agencies within the 7th Judicial District and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and investigates the use of deadly force by law enforcement officers within the district.
