Thomas Laverty sentenced to 12 years in prison for role in using Massachusetts plumbing business as front for marijuana grow operation Updated Mar 02, 2021; Facebook Share A 40-year-old Clinton man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being convicted last year of conspiring to cultivate more than 100 marijuana plants, using a family business as a front, authorities said. Thomas Laverty, a former employee of the Chuck Laverty & Son Inc. plumbing business in Millbury, was sentenced by Tuesday by U.S. District Court Judge Timothy Hillman to the 12 years in prison and 8 years of supervised release. He was ordered to pay $3,100 in restitution, according to the office of Acting United States Attorney Nathaniel R. Mendell.
