India Boat and Marine Show gets under way

The third edition of the India Boat and Marine Show has begun on https://boatshow.exposim.io/ with the pandemic remaining unabated.
Vice Admiral A.K. Chawla, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command, inaugurated the show while KMRL managing director Alkesh Kumar delivered the keynote address.
There were special addresses by M.G. Rajamanickam, managing director of KSIDC and Mathew George, director, Inland Waterways Authority of India.
The show, which features a range of stakeholders in the recreational and leisure boating market, making speed boats, engines, navigational and other systems and equipment, and other supply and service providers, will close on Thursday.

India Boat & Marine Show (IBMS), which has emerged the country’s premier boat and marine industry-related expo with its two editions held in Kochi, will go virtual this year considering the lingering threat of the Covid pandemic.
The organisers said this year the expo will be held from February 10 to 12 at https://boatshow.exposim.io/
Joseph Kuriakose, Director, Cruz Expos, the organisers of the expo, said it is the second online exhibition organised by the company since the Agri-Business Expo in October 2020. The company has been organising FoodTech, HotelTech, Agri-Business Expo and India Boat & Marine Show, a few very successful business expos held annually in Kochi.

Barge with containers to resume service this month
The transportation of containers through the Kottayam-Kochi National Waterway (NW) corridor will resume in a fortnight after a two-year lull, decongesting roads and at the same time ushering in an economical, eco-friendly and energy-efficient mode to ferry cargo.
A 240-tonne barge capable of carrying up to twenty 20-feet containers had conducted four trips in the corridor, which is part of NW IX and NW III, in March 2019, carrying export / import cargo. The transit time along the 85-km waterway is around seven hours.
