Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi PETALING JAYA: Certain retail stores will be allowed to continue operating despite the enhanced movement control order that begins today in parts of the Klang Valley, says the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry. Its minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said these retail premises provided essential services and necessities to the public. However, he also said that their operational hours would be limited during the enhanced MCO from July 3-16. Nanta added that details of the operations of essential services depended on the Covid-19 Coordination and Management Centre in Kuala Lumpur and the Selangor Security Council Committee.

The stock limits will be applicable on wholesalers, retailers, millers and importers. The Department of Consumer Affairs issued the Removal of Licensing Requirements, Stock Limits and Movement Restrictions on Specified Foodstuffs (Amendment) Order, 2021 prescribing the limits which have been imposed with immediate effect.
