July 21, 2021 Washington State University PULLMAN, Wash. Washington State University expects all students, faculty, staff and volunteers to be fully vaccinated before the start of the fall semester. As the state’s land-grant research university, WSU has an obligation to serve the public good and promote the health and safety of its communities. The science clearly shows that the COVID-19 vaccine nearly eliminates the chances of death or serious illness related to a COVID-19 infection and is a critical element in protecting public health locally and worldwide. Washington State University respects the right of individuals to decide whether to get vaccinated. WSU has instituted an exemption process for those who have medical or non-medical reasons for not receiving the vaccine.

May 26, 2021 Washington State University WSU employees, students and visitors who provide proof of full vaccination will be allowed to forgo face masks and social distancing on all University locations. The complete guidance is available on the university’s COVID-19 website. People are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving their last shot in a vaccine series. To find a nearby location where vaccines are available, visit the state’s Vaccine Locator website. Employees will still have to declare their health status through the WSU Attestation website prior to visiting a WSU worksite or campus, though the policy will be re-evaluated in the weeks ahead.

March 11, 2021 Washington State University Washington State University’s COVID‑19 protocols have helped detect an increase in positive cases affecting its Pullman campus, and aggressive efforts are underway to contain it. The risk to the Pullman community is considered low. Currently, 189 students and employees have tested positive for COVID‑19 since Feb. 24. Ninety cases remain active and those individuals are sequestering either at home or in University-provided quarantine accommodations. None have required hospitalization. “Our protocols are working,” said WSU spokesperson Phil Weiler. “Our testing and screening procedures rapidly alerted us to an increase, enabling our contact tracers to quickly identify those who may have been exposed and notify them of the risk so they could get tested and isolate from others.”
