State Fair marketing director Kari Mergen says that includes campground improvements, brick horse barn upgrades and major renovations at the sheep pavilion and the swine barn.

Emergency repair costs stemming from widespread flooding that occurred over Father’s Day weekend are nearing $2 million for Tuscaloosa taxpayers.
Two repair contracts were unanimously approved Tuesday by the Tuscaloosa City Council to pay for work to fix water line breakages near the city’s raw water intake at Lake Tuscaloosa and water and sewer line failures near the Black Warrior River.
The largest contract of the two totaled $1.13 million and went to Dominion Construction Co. Inc. of Tuscaloosa, which is still working to repair a failed 24-inch water line and 24-inch sanitary sewer line between the Riverview boat landing and Nucor Steel along Jack Warner Parkway.
