The construction of Sominot-Dumingag Road and Sominot-Mahayag Road “are on track for completion,” Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said, noting that once completed, the roads will provide ease of access to towns of Zamboanga del Sur .
A 2.24-kilometer segment of the Sominot-Dumingag Road was already completed while another 2.66-kilometer segment under has reached 99.13 percent completion.
The two segments are part of the 17.9-kilometer Sominot-Dumingag Road Project implemented under a P788.5-million fund with inclusion of road concreting, construction of four bridges, and slope protection provision.
“This bypass road will directly link the municipalities of Sominot and Dumingag, serving as an alternate road that cuts the present one hour and 30 minutes of intertown travel time to just 20 minutes,” Villar said.

The Department of Public Works and Highways recently completed the construction of the facilities which can accommodate 44 COVID-19 patients and 64 medical personnel manning the operations at the Quezon City Institute.
“The completion of this modular hospital will address the urgent need for medical facilities made inevitable by the pandemic,” Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said.
Each modular hospital will be operated by medical teams from the Department of Health (DoH) and Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center in Manila.
The facilities were designed by the DPWH Task Force to Facilitate Augmentation of Local and National Health Facilities in coordination with DoH to have specific rooms for the donning or putting on of health care professionals’ personal protective equipment (PPE) such as disposable gowns, gloves and shoe covers, and area for doffing or taking off of PPEs in order to protect and limit spread of contamination.

The new bridge, which is called Kaykulot Bridge, connects the Tagaytay-Calamba Road and Sta. Rosa-Ulat-Tagaytay Road in Cavite.
It is a 90-lineal meter bridge built under a P65.7-million budget.
According to Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, the bridge is a key component of the Kaykulot Road that will provide an alternate route and easy access to tourism designated areas such as the Tagaytay Picnic Grove and Peoples Park in the Sky (formerly Palace in the Sky).
The bridge will benefit some 2,000 daily motorists, Villar added.
The entire Kaykulot Road Project has a total length of 2.367 kilometers.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said the “construction of 4.1-kilometer contract package (CP) 1 – Tarlac Section and 6.4-kilometer CP 2 – Rio Chico River Bridge Section are now 100 percent finished.”
The completed sections are part of the 30 kilometer, four-lane expressway project that will connect and improve access between the cities of Tarlac and Cabanatuan in Nueva Ecija.
The CP 1, according to Undersecretary Emil Sadain, covers the construction of a 300-meter temporary off and on-ramp to be used as exit in La Paz-Victoria Road while CP 2 includes the construction of 1.5-kilometer Rio Chico River viaduct, 42-meter Sta. Lucia River Bridge, 38-meter La Paz-Victoria underpass bridge.
