One person has suffered serious leg injuries after a crash involving a car and cyclist on State Highway 60 in Golden Bay on Saturday morning. A police spokeswoman said the incident happened around 9.50am on the section Takaka-Collingwood Highway between Tukurua Rd and Parapara Beach Rd. Police, fire crews and ambulance attended. The road was down to one lane while emergency services worked on the scene, with the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter sent to the site around 10am.

A woman was winched from rugged terrain in Marlborough after being injured during a canyoning trip. The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter flew to Doom Creek in Wakamarina, behind Canvastown, just before 4.30pm on Saturday after a personal locator beacon was activated. Pilot Colby Tyrrell said the rescue involved a technical winch job to get down to the woman. “It was at a tricky bend in the river with very steep terrain, heavily wooded and tall trees, that was inaccessible.”

The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter airlifted one person to Nelson Hospital from the Marlborough Sounds on Sunday.
A child has been airlifted to hospital after an ATV crash in the Marlborough Sounds. The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter was called out to a location in Resolution Bay at about 1.15pm on Sunday afternoon, where an ATV had rolled and injured one person. Rescue Helicopter pilot Barry McAuliffe said a 12-year-old girl was airlifted to Nelson Hospital. A St John spokesman said one patient had suffered moderate injuries.

A man has been flown to Christchurch Hospital after crashing on a Tasman highway. The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter picked up a truck driver on Saturday at noon after he crashed on State Highway 65 in Maruia between Creighton and Boundary Roads. Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter pilot Colby Tyrrell said the man had moderate injuries after crashing off the road in a truck. He said the helicopter landed in a nearby paddock and flew the man to Christchurch Hospital for treatment. A police spokesperson said fire, ambulance and police attended the crash.
