Hindu Nationalists Use Forged Document to Discredit Christian Groups in Nepal
05/01/2021 Nepal (International Christian Concern) – According to Morning Star News, Hindu nationalists have forged and published a highly inflammatory document to discredit and close several Christian NGOs in Nepal.
The forged document, falsely attributed to the Nepal Christian Society and the National Churches Fellowship of Nepal, claims that the Christian groups are seeking to create ethnic divisions in Nepal to gain converts.
Morning Star News reports the forged document went viral on social media after members of the Hindu nationalist Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) published the false document on Facebook on April 5. Since then, the RPP has called on the government to cancel the registration of the Nepal Christian Society and the National Churches Fellowship of Nepal.

– When COVID-19 came onto the scene last year, pastors and ministry workers around the world suffered a financial hit as they were cut off from their congregations. In Nepal, even though the country is secular by name, many Christians were dealt a second blow when they were denied access to food distributions.
Therefore, ICC teamed up with local partners to provide food assistance to 50 pastors throughout Nepal. One beneficiary shared, “
I [have been] doing pastoral ministry for 10 years now. My church was closed five months before. I had so [much] difficulty for many months to manage my daily needs. No one gave me anything. I was praying and I received food assistance…Thank you so much. Praise God.”
Authorities Demolish Rupantaran Khristiya Church in Nepal
01/29/2021 Nepal (International Christian Concern) – On January 20, 2021 Nepalese authorities appeared at the doorsteps of the Rupantaran Khristiya Church with demolition equipment to destroy the church. Several Christian families in the Naya Basti slum area who had called this church home gathered there on January 20 and broke down in tears as the officials tore into the walls of the church, bringing it down piece by piece. The lead pastor of the church, Prem Rokka, was among those gathered, watching with a heavy heart as his church building came crumbling down. The church was established in the slum area in 2013 through the help of a generous donation of one of the families that offered up the building for Christian use.
Christians in Nepal Continue to Face a Context of Growing Persecution
01/25/2021 Nepal (International Christian Concern) – Persecution in Nepal continues to be an increasing concern for the growing Christian population of the predominantly Hindu country. The Global Press Journal recently published an article discussing the story of Pastor Hari Tamang, a current example of this persecution. Pastor Tamang has been falsely charged with trafficking children and attempted conversions after he had agreed to shelter children who would have otherwise been put on the street because their former shelter could not help them any longer. Although the trafficking charges were dropped, Tamang is still years later fighting the charges of attempted conversion of the children.
