Chicago woman dies after 4-vehicle crash in Naperville

A Chicago woman died after a four-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Naperville. First responders arrived about 7:45 a.m. just north of the intersection of Naper Boulevard and Green Trails Drive, according to a news release from the Naperville Police Department.   Lesly Engel, 53, was unresponsive when she was freed from her gray 2003 Toyota Camry and died later at the hospital, the news release said. No other serious injuries were reported. The initial investigation into the crash indicate Engel was driving her Toyota south on Naper Boulevard in the left lane when the car veered into oncoming traffic and struck a maroon 2016 Honda CRV that was heading north. The Honda rolled over and came to rest upright just north of the intersection, the news release said. Two other northbound vehicles, a white 2017 GMC Terrain and white 2011 Lincoln MKZ, were unable to stop and also became involved in the cash.

About 7:45 a.m., Lesley Engle was traveling in a Toyota Camry near Naperville Boulevard and Deep Run Road when she lost control of her car and veered into oncoming traffic, Naperville police said in a statement. Engle, 53, struck a Honda CVR, causing it to roll over, police said. Two other vehicles weren’t able to stop in time and also crashed. Firefighters extricated Engle from the Toyota and she was taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. No other injuries were reported, according to police.

Woman taken to hospital after Naperville crash   Updated 4/24/2021 11:40 PM A 38-year-old woman was unresponsive after crashing her vehicle into a concrete wall Saturday in Naperville, authorities said. Police and fire responded to the scene about 12:39 p.m. after the woman was driving a 2007 white Ford F150 truck eastbound on 75th Street approaching Washington Street when she proceeded through the intersection at a slow speed, crossed several eastbound lanes of traffic and then struck a concrete wall on the southeast corner of the intersection, according to a news release from the Naperville Police Department.   The woman was found unresponsive and was taken to a hospital.

NAPERVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT: Naperville Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Crash at Route 59 and 103rd Street

Naperville Police Department issued the following announcement on Mar 1. On Monday, March 1, 2021 at 10:31 a.m. the Naperville Police Department responded to the intersection of Route 59 and 103rd Street for the report of a vehicle crash. Responding units observed a passenger vehicle and a semi-tractor trailer which appeared to be involved in a rear end collision. The vehicles involved were a silver 2007 Ford Fusion and an orange 2002 Volvo semi. The Naperville Fire Department responded to the scene and provided emergency medical attention to the driver of the Ford, who was declared deceased at the scene and later had to be extricated from the vehicle. The driver of the Ford’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the semi, a 58-year-old Plano resident, suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.
