Views: Visits 272 The Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde is bereaved. He just lost one of his special advisers on Infrastructure, Engr. Adepoju James, to the cold hands of death. He died barely a year after his appointment. The cause of his death has not yet been disclosed. James Adepoju was a trained civil engineer who graduated from the  University of Ibadan. He worked as an engineer, senior engineer, principal engineer and engineering director as well as consultant in different engineering companies on a wide range of projects across Nigeria including providing engineering consultancy services on the construction of Igbeti-Ogbomoso Road; Oshodi Transport Interchange; reconstruction/upgrading of Oshodi-Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road; Oshodi-Abule Egba Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project and VGC Flood Control Project, among others.

SEC, SON collaborates to fast track approval of relevant commodities trading standards

“The prompt establishment of relevant standards would be transformational for the Nigerian commodities trading ecosystem. Standards provide consumers with an assurance of fitness of purpose, processors with commodities specifications, and serves as reference point against which features of commodities can be compared. “The commission was committed to mobilizing relevant stakeholders in the commodities trading ecosystem to provide the support needed by the SON to achieve expedited approval and publication of the commodities standards. “Standard setting is a project of national importance and the SEC along with other stakeholders will work with the SON to achieve the objective and by extension national food security and self-sufficiency.”

FG threatens sanctions for violation of expatriate policy

Punch Newspapers Sections Olufemi Olaniyi, Ibadan The Special Ministerial Task Force on Monitoring and Enforcement of Nigerian Expatriate Business Permit and Expatriate Quota Administration has said the Federal Government will sanction any company that fails to comply with the law guiding the employment of qualified Nigerians as understudy for expatriates. To ensure compliance with the policy, the task force has directed companies in the country to submit the Tax Identification Number, National Identification Numbers, phone numbers and email addresses of Nigerians understudying expatriates in their firms. The chairman of the task force, Mr Bola Ilori, said in a statement on Sunday that all companies must submit the details of Nigerians understudying expatriates within their organisations to verify their sincerity or otherwise.

FG threatens companies violating expatriate quota policy

Daily Post Nigeria Published The Federal Government has vowed to sanction companies not complying with expatriate policy of the country. Nigerian Expatriate Business Permit and Expatriate Quota is a special permit granted to foreign or local companies to recruit foreigners to work in Nigeria. The Ministry of Interior is saddled with the responsibility in line with section 36(1) of the Immigration Act. The Chairman of the Special Ministerial Task Force on Monitoring and Enforcement of Nigerian Expatriate Business Permit and Expatriate Quota Administration, Bola Ilori in a statement following a meeting in Osogbo, Osun State with representatives of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Nigeria Labour Congress, Nigerian Bar Association, Nigerian Society of Engineers accused some companies in Nigeria of rigging the system.
