After leaving the Saudi Arabian League, he turned down a move to Sheffield Wednesday. After also missing out on a move to West Bromwich Albion, Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers, Super Eagles’ Captain, Ahmed Musa, has signed a short-term deal with the club he cut his football teeth – Kano Pillars – and reactions have been trailing the decision of the former Leicester of England winger
Ahmed Musa is not the first high profile Nigerian player to return home from Europe to join the domestic league, and he would probably not be the last. Former Nigerian international, Rashidi Yekini famously joined Julius Berger football club of Lagos after an illustrious career in Europe.

On April 13, the Super Eagles captain
signed for Kano Pillars under the Elite Players Program of the League Management Company (LMC) a scheme established to encourage Nigerian stars to play for home-based teams.
In a chat with
ESPN, Dikko said Musa rejoined Pillars because he wants to give back to his boyhood club.
“We didn’t speak much about it. Musa is someone who is more concerned about giving back to the club that made him and he is not coming here to do this for money. He is not getting paid for playing for Pillars. That is the kind of person he is,” Dikko said.

Eagles captain Musa on Tuesday completed a short term move to Kano Pillars for the remainder of the season – a move NPFL coaches and players believe will give the league a facelift.
The 28-year-old starred for Pillars in 2009 and ended the NPFL season as the top scorer, before his move to VVV Venlo.
