The Imo State Police Command has re-arrested three suspected escapees from the Correctional Centre, Owerri.
Their arrest followed sustained monitoring by the detectives from Oru West Division, who successfully rearrested one Cosmas Mbamara who hails from Ohakpu area of Mgbidi in Oru West LGA of Imo State and escaped from Correctional Centre, Owerri on 5th April 2021 during a jailbreak.
In a statement endorsed and by the New Police Public Relations Officer of Imo Police Command, SP. Bala Elkana said that the suspect was facing trial for murder when he escaped from the correctional Centre.
He added that on the same date the Surveillance Team also arrested one Okafor George Chisomo, 35 years old, from Ezeachi Area in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo state.

The Controller General of Nigeria Correctional Service NCoS, Haliru Nababa has approved the payment of about N154.57 million to 218 personnel who were either killed or injured in the line of duty.
Spokesman of the Service, CC Francis Enobore in a statement issued Sunday in Abuja said the sum of N70. 24 million would go to the families of 57 officers who died in active service while 161 others are to receive a total of N84.32 million as a refund of medical bills and retirement benefits.
He said the Service, through its Corrections Welfare Insurance Scheme (CWIS), maintains a platform designed to provide immediate financial succour to members or their families in times of need, adding that the concept was established to mitigate the occupational hazards and risks associated with management of inmates.
During the heat of the incident, the Bayelsa State government had promised to take care of Ese and her pregnancy until she delivered, award scholarship to her to continue with her education after delivery and provide her accommodation in Yenagoa.
Chief Henry Seriake Dickson was the governor of Bayelsa State at the time the incident happened in 2015. He is currently representing Bayelsa West Senatorial district at the National Assembly.
Also, Delta State governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, who sent a powerful delegation made up of top government officials to visit Ese Oruru and her family who are from the state but residing in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State at that time, promised to give her scholarship, but later claimed they had no provision for that.
