THE Nigerian Governors’ Forum, NGF, yesterday assured that issues surrounding the implementation of financial autonomy for the judiciary and legislature at the state level will be completed by May.
The assurance by the governors came just as lawyers in various states across the country staged peaceful protests yesterday to demand autonomy for the judiciary.
Chairman of the NGF, and governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, who led other governors and representatives of both the judiciary and legislature to a harmonisation meeting in the office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said all parties had reached an agreement on the way forward.

Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich, has taken steps to pull the club out of the proposed European Super League.
Forbes reports that Abramovich has taken the decision based on the negative global reaction about the breakaway competition.
On Monday Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham, joined AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid in committing to the plans.
However, it was widely rumoured that Chelsea were one of two Premier League clubs who had agreed reluctantly.
A source at the club said: “The club is preparing to pull out.
“Roman’s involvement with the club has never been about money, it has always been about the community and [the] fans. This is not what we want.”

This is following the backlash he received over the club’s involvement in European Super League.
He assumed the position in 2013 when he replaced CEO David Gill as chairman of the Red Devils.
During his reign, Manchester United have failed to win the Premier League title but it was his decision to sign the club up to the controversial Super League which has proved to have angered the fans the more.
Woodward handed in his resignation letter on Tuesday, according to talkSPORT.
