Noida airport: When will the first flight take off
Noida will soon have an airport. The ambitious project approved by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is being built in Jewar area along the Yamuna Expressway in the Gautam Buddh Nagar district. The airport is being developed by Switzerland-headquartered private firm Zurich Airport International AG while the NIAL, a nodal agency floated by the state government, will monitor the project s development.Â
The Noida International Airport will have two runways and a capacity for handling 12 million passengers per annum in the first phase.
Eventually, it will have five runways and a passenger capacity of 70 million a year when completed at an estimated to cost Rs 29,560 crore in total, according to officials.

The project was then sidelined during the SP regime, which began pressing for an international airport in Agra so as to build a connectivity with its dream project, Lucknow-Agra Expressway.
The project was revived during the current BJP regime, and with the same party at the centre and the state, things could move way faster. The site clearance for the airport came in 2017. Over the past three years, various clearances, including security, environment, bidder, etc followed. It is Zurich Airport International AG that won the bid for developing the airport in December last year. The airport is expected to share the load of the IGI Airport in Delhi. BSP president Mayawati
LUCKNOW: BSP president Mayawati said on Friday that the Ganga Expressway, Noida airport and other projects were result of the development models formulated when her party was in power in Uttar Pradesh.
Mayawati s comments came a day after chief minister Yogi Adityanath approved the design, name and logo of the Noida international airport, which will be constructed in Jewar. In UP, be it Ganga Expressway or other development projects or the new airport to be built in Jewar, the whole world knows that these are the eminent models of development formulated in the BSP government, Mayawati said. First, the SP and now the present BJP government keeps patting itself on its back over these.
