Lucknow, March 1 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Monday that his government has accorded top priority to the development of the Jewar International Airport in Noida.
He said that despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the speed, transparency and execution as per the schedule of this project has demonstrated the new work culture of the state. It has been decided to increase the number of airstrips from two to six at this airport, he informed.

NOIDA: The Jewar international airport project is fast gaining momentum. The masterplan for the airport has been approved by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), officials have said. A final security clearance from the Bureau of Civil Aviation (BCA) is all that’s required now to start construction at the site.
Officials of Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), the UP government’s special purpose vehicle for the project, said on the masterplan was sent to AAI to ensure that all technical aspects were being complied with. “We have now received the approval as well as some suggestions from AAI. They have reviewed the project masterplan,” said Arunvir Singh, chief executive officer of NIAL.

The Jewar International Airport in Greater Noida will be Indiaâs largest airport and second largest in Asia after Yogi Adityanath Cabinet okayed 3 runaways for the second phase development of the proposed airport.
Currently, Delhiâs Indira Gandhi International Airport is the largest in the country with three runways.
The first phase will, however, have only 2 runaways. The 1,334 hectares for the airport, rechristened as Greenfield International Airport, was acquired last year and the construction is in full swing. The first phase is expected to complete with a runway by 2024 with at Rs29,500 crore.

NOIDA: A mini model of the upcoming international airport at Jewar was put on display at a stall of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) during UP Diwas celebrations on Monday.
Visitors aimed their cameras at the model that sought to display how the airport might eventually look in its first phase. “I am from Tugalpur village of Greater Noida and feel that I am already a part of the airport project. The replica had all the minute details of the airport,” said Jagpal Singh, a visitor.
Christoph Schnellmann, the CEO of Zurich AG’s subsidiary Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL) was also present at the stall where details of the airport were being showcased.
