I regret not having MORE one-night stands, casual sex is empowering not a dirty secret, says Kate Wills

KATE WILLS I regret not having MORE one-night stands, casual sex is empowering not a dirty secret, says Kate Wills Comment Apr 24 2021, 19:21 ET SEVERAL years ago, I woke up in a hotel room with a random man sleeping next to me. Turning industrial waste heat into avocados

Turning industrial waste heat into avocados Turning industrial waste heat into avocados The industrial sector produces large amounts of heat that goes to waste – heat that could be used to dry tons of kelp to store CO 2, or grow subtropical crops at higher latitudes. By Petter Røkke, Research Director; Petter Nekså, Chief Scientist; Brage Rugstad Knudsen, Research Cientist   The greenest kilowatt-hour is the one you don t need to generate. That is the short version of a major point made by the International Energy Agency (IEA) in its forecasts.  The IEA s premise is that a whopping 37% of the emissions reductions necessary to reach the two-degree warming target are realised by using existing energy more efficiently. But that message often seems to be forgotten.

Norwegian Cuckoo Wasp species discovered by international biologists

Modern DNA coding techniques have allowed scientists to finally tell these rainbow insects apart for the first time, a process that led to the identification of this species. Their findings were recently published in the online journal, Insect Systematics and Diversity. Credit: Villu Soon, Frode Ødegaard, et. al. Often called emerald wasps, all cuckoo wasps belong to the tribe Chrysidini in the family Chrysididae, a hymenopteran collection of more than 3,000 recognized species with over 1,000 of them belonging to the genus Chrysis. Officially catalogued as Chrysis parabrevitarsis, this vibrant new species resides in the arid dunes of the Lista peninsula near the municipality of Farsund in Norway.
