NolanFest celebrates life of late OR student Nolan Gibbons

The festival featured speakers, singing, and local food trucks Nolan’s parents Sheila and Warren Gibbons speak about Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood Nolan’s fellow cast members from a 2016 production of Oliver Twist sing a song from the musical MARION People young and old came out to Silvershell Beach in droves on Sunday, July 11 to celebrate the life of Nolan Gibbons at NolanFest, a music festival organized in honor of the late Old Rochester Regional High School student. Gibbons was a rising sophomore at the time of his death last August and was known far and wide as a virtuoso musician with a heart of gold. The profound effect he had on people was made clear as speaker after speaker and singer after singer shared their experiences with him as a musician, an actor, and most of all a friend.

High school to honor life of Nolan Gibbons with plaque

Aidan Pollard Dec 15, 2020 Students Gabriella Berg and Kathleen Dunn presented options for the plaque and what to do with money raised in Gibbons’ honor.  The Old Rochester Regional School District will honor student Nolan Gibbons, who died in August, with a plaque to be displayed in the ORRHS music hallway.  The decision was made at a Dec. 9 ORR School Committee Meeting, where students Gabriella Berg and Kathleen Dunn presented options for the plaque and what to do with money raised in Gibbons’ honor.  “Nolan Gibbons was an outstanding artist with huge aspirations,” Berg said.  Gibbons died in his sleep in August. But in life, he was a winner of New England’s Got Talent and a musician who wrote, recorded and produced his own songs.
