Whole genome sequencing has determined there is unlikely to be in-facility transmission of COVID-19 at the Novotel Auckland Airport managed isolation facility.
Last evening, 125 returnees staying in the facility had their stays extended while an investigation was carried out at the facility following two previously reported positive day 12 COVID-19 cases.
The two cases arrived on 14 June, one from Moscow and one from Dubai. They were added to the active cases tally on Monday.
It is standard protocol that any cases detected after day 3 are investigated further, in particular to rule out in-facility transmission.

Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins says New Zealand s supplies of the Covid vaccine are set to get very tight from June to early July.
Stocks of vaccine available for distribution have fallen below 100,000, a chart supplied by the Ministry of Health shows.
Stock levels at DHBs were being monitored closely and deliveries over the next few days were closely aligned to bookings, Hipkins said.
The Government was expecting 1 million doses to be delivered across July.
As of midnight last night, 149,608 doses of vaccine had been administered across New Zealand, while more than 44,000 New Zealanders had received their second dose.

Auckland This
case is not in the Novotel Auckland Airport managed
isolation facility, so is not linked to the two positive day
12 tests which we reported on yesterday.
As is
standard protocol, we will investigate the reason for the
day 12 positive test.
Yesterday we reported the full
travel histories for cases 1 and 2 were still being
investigated.
We can now confirm those two cases
travelled from Kuwait via the United Arab
Emirates.
