Police ID 2 Victims In Fatal Garden City House Fire

(John Scalesi) GARDEN CITY, NY Nassau County police have identified two of the three people who died in a tragic house fire Thursday morning. Gail Madigan, 60, and Molly Madigan, 18, both died in the early morning fire. Police are still working to identify the third victim, a 62-year-old man. Molly was a senior at Garden City High School and had just been accepted to New York University next fall, NBC 4 reported. The fire broke out at the home on Washington Avenue just after 5:30 a.m. Garden City firefighters were battling a massive fire in Westbury at the time and left to respond to the home, which was engulfed in flames.

(Patch Graphic) WESTBURY, NY Dozens of fire departments responded to a fire at a garbage facility in Westbury Wednesday night, causing delays on the LIRR. The fire burned all night and is now under control, but not entirely extinguished. The fire started around 8:45 p.m. at Jamaica Ash and Rubbish Removal, located at 228 Grand Blvd. The facility is adjacent to LIRR railroad tracks. There were 68 fire departments at the scene of the five-alarm fire, trying to contain the blaze. According to News 12, 250 firefighters were on the scene. Because of the blaze, LIRR trains on the branch were stopped and Mineola and couldn t proceed.
