DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” T. de la Peña noted that the NVSU’s center has opened disease indexing laboratory for viral and bacterial based citrus diseases such as Huanglongbin (HLB) and citrus tristeza virus (CTV).
“This is important for pommelo seedlings intended for inter-island transport. The disease indexing for HLB is polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based like the swab test for COVID-19 while antigen test by serology is used for detection of CTV,” he said in a report.
