Dhaka, April 5 (efe-epa).- At least 22 bodies were recovered Monday from the site of a recent boat accident near the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka, taking the death toll in the incident to 27, according to the authorities.
The incident occurred around 6 pm on Sunday when a boat carrying at least 46 passengers capsized in the Shitalakkhya river in Narayanganj district.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority director Rafiqul Islam said rescue teams had managed to get hold of the capsized boat and dragged it to the shore around noon on Monday.
“We have pulled out 21 bodies from the boat while one dead body came afloat today. We had recovered five bodies last night. We checked the boat thoroughly, there are no more bodies inside,” Islam told EFE.

Dhaka [Bangladesh] April 5, (ANI): At least five people were killed and over a dozen went missing after a passenger ferry sunk in a river near Bangladesh capital Dhaka officials said, according to local media reports.
The incident took place on Sunday.
According to Bangladesh local media, the double-decker ferry carrying more than 50 passengers sank after a cargo vessel hit it in the Shitalakshya River near Madanpur of Narayanganj district, an official said.
More than a dozen people are reported missing while the others managed to swim ashore, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority official Mobarak Hossain was quoted as saying.

The death toll from the launch capsize in the Shitalakshya River stood at 29 after the launch was pulled out on Monday.
Most of the bodies retrieved were inside the sunken vessel, said the authorities concerned.
The launch ‘MV Sabit Al Hasan’ sank in the river near the third Shitalakkhya Bridge at Koylaghat of Syedpur in Narayanganj after being hit with a sand carrying bulkhead ‘SKL-3’ on Sunday evening.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) said the launch with 47 passengers left the Narayanganj launch terminal for going to Munshiganj at about 5:56 pm. Of the passengers, 20 could be rescued while the rest drowned.
