Samsung to make another high-end device in Bangladesh plant Samsung s juggernaut in manufacturing the latest smartphones in Bangladesh continues as the South Korean tech giant has taken to assembling its flagship smart device Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G in its local plant. The handset, which was rolled out globally on January 14, would be the second 5G-enabled smartphone of Samsung assembled in Bangladesh. The first 5G smartphone was Note 20 Ultra 5G which hit markets last year. The devices work with the fifth-generation cellular network technology that gives users near-real-time interactivity, faster internet, lower response times and the capacity to join many devices.

2021-01-20 07:35:52 GMT2021-01-20 15:35:52(Beijing Time) Xinhua English DHAKA, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) The total number of Bangladesh s mobile phone users hit over 170 million at the end of 2020, with an addition of 4.57 million new users last year, showed the latest statistics of the country s telecom regulator. According to data from the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), the number of subscribers in the country reached 170.137 million in December 2020. Currently the country has four mobile companies, three of which are foreign-backed cell phone operators. The number of subscribers of mobile operators, Grameen Phone Ltd., Robi Axiata Limited, Banglalink Digital Communications Limited and Teletalk Bangladesh Ltd. stood at 79.037 million, 50.901 million, 35.272 million and 4.927 million respectively at the end of last year, the BTRC data showed.

UNB, Dhaka UNB, Dhaka     BSCL Managing Director Shahriar Ahmed Chowdhury and PwC Global Space Practice Leader Luigi Scatteia signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.   Shahriar said the PwC would submit their recommendations within the next 90 days. Then, we ll hand it over to the government, he said.   BSCL Chairman Shahjahan Mahmood said they can estimate cost after getting recommendations from the company. We received 21 consulting companies applications. Later, we selected PwC considering reasonable cost and good company, he added.   Our work was delayed seven months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the satellite can be launched during the tenure of the incumbent government or by 2023, he added.

Bangabandhu Satellite-2 to be launched in 2023 Special Correspondent 19th January, 2021 08:44:04 The government is expecting to launch the country’s second satellite- Bangabandhu Satellite-2-by 2023, a top official confirmed.  As part of the plan, Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) has signed an agreement with a France-based company, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Advisory, SAS for consultancy services to launch Bangabandhu Satellite-2. BSCL Managing Director (Additional Charge) Shahriar Ahmed Chowdhury and PwC Space Practice Leader Dr Luigi Scaria signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations. Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar as the chief guest was present at the signing ceremony virtually. Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Md Afzal Hossain and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Chairman Shyam Sunder Sikder addressed the function as the special guests.
