3 Bangladeshi women make it to list of top 100 Asian scientists United News of Bangladesh (UNB)
Bangladesh, April 29 Three Bangladeshi scientists, all of them women, have made it to the list of best and brightest 100 Asian scientists for their contribution to research.
International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research Bangladesh s Dr Firdausi Qadri, Model Livestock Advancement Foundation s Dr Salma Sultana, and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology s Professor Saima Subrina have been included in the sixth edition of the list published by Singapore-based magazine Asian Scientist.
Scientists from China, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam have also secured a place on the prestigious list.

Prof Arefin mourns death of ex-BUET VC Shafiullah

DHAKA, April 25, 2021 (BSS) – Dhaka University (DU) former Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of former vice-chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Prof AMM Shafiullah.
In a message of condolence, he said Prof Shafiullah, a civil engineer and educationist, played an important role in the field of engineering education as the vice-chancellor of BUET and Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST).
His death is an irreparable loss to not only in the field of engineering education but also in the country’s entire education system, he said.

Nasrul for making energy storage management as sustainable

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said it is now demand of time to make energy storage management as sustainable.
“Applications of energy storage will increase as much as the increase of the use of renewable energy and electric vehicles. Price of energy storage applications should be affordable,” he said.
Nasrul was addressing a webinar on Storage Applications in Bangladesh Power System arranged by ‘Energy and Power’ magazine.
He said peak, off-peak hour, affordable energy and storage management should be fixed in Bangladesh perspectives.
