Paris to stage rescheduled Tokyo 2020 European boxing qualifier Wednesday, 3 March 2021
Paris has been chosen to stage the rearranged European boxing qualifier for the postponed Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Boxing Task Force (BTF), which is organising the qualifiers, confirmed the French capital had replaced London as the host city for the event.
The BTF said it had selected Paris as part of its initial commitment to organise its events in the host countries of recent or upcoming Olympic Games, and because of the opportunity to continue to benefit from its already established relationship with the Local Organising Committee, which was originally entrusted to organise the now-cancelled final world qualifier .

Budapest in Hungary has emerged as the likely replacement for London as the host city for the rearranged Tokyo 2020 European boxing qualifier.
insidethegames understands the International Olympic Committee s (IOC) Boxing Task Force (BTF), which is organising the qualifier, is in talks with Hungarian officials regarding staging the European event in June.
Sources with knowledge of the situation said the László Papp Budapest Sports Arena has been provisionally booked for a period in June by the Hungarian Boxing Federation, an indication that the organisation plans to host the competition.
The Copper Box on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park had been due to stage the event, which began in March last year before being suspended after three days of competition due to COVID-19, from April 22 to 26.

AIBA to hold next Congress in Hungary
AIBA President Umar Kremlev announced the news during a trip to the country today.
Budapest was supposed to hold last year’s AIBA Congress in December, but because of the coronavirus pandemic the event was held virtually.
During the virtual Congress, Kremlev was elected as AIBA President receiving 86 votes to win during the fourth round of voting. Hungary has a rich history of boxing, said Kremlev, speaking during his visit to Budapest. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, we couldn’t conduct our Congress in 2020 here in Budapest, as it was planned. However, the next Congress will be held in the country.
