Letter to the Editor: Rural neighborhood not a tourist destination
We are appealing to the Solano County Planning Commission and Solano County Board of Supervisors to withhold approval of any application for unhosted short-term vacation rental properties, but in particular for a property on Edinburg Court in Green Valley Highlands in unincorporated Solano County. Short-term rentals are for stays from a few days to a week or more, but less than 30 days. A hearing for approval of this permit is scheduled at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21.
This regulation allowing unhosted short-term rentals was passed by the Board of Supervisors in 2018, with most residents unaware of its existence. Unfortunately, Solano County doesn’t have adequate personnel to regulate these rentals.
