PML-Q leaders discuss political situation

National March 1, 2021 LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Q Senior Vice-President Chaudhry Saleem Baryar called on newly-elected Senator Kamil Ali Agha and discussed the political situation and national issues with him. Saleem Baryar congratulated Kamil Ali Agha on his election as senator. Kamil Ali Agha said his unopposed election to Senate was possible due to the efforts of Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi. The leadership of PML-Q created an atmosphere of understanding so that the possible horse trading was blocked. He said that as in the past, he would play his active role as the party’s representative on the Senate floor.

Punjab Assembly meets today February 23, 2021 LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has summoned a session of the Punjab Assembly at the assembly chambers on Tuesday (today) at 2 pm. The 28th session of the 17th Assembly has been requisitioned by the opposition. According to the gazette notification, issued by the Assembly Secretariat here on Monday, the session was convened on a requisition by the opposition MPA Khalil Tahir Sandhu and submitted to Secretary PA Muhammad Khan Bhatti. The session is expected to be chaired by Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.

PTI banks on Elahi for Senate poll smooth sailing

Senior PTI leader says his party has offered one seat to the PML-Q in Senate ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has given the task of supervising the Senate elections process in the province to Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) leader and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi. A senior PTI leader told The Express Tribune that the PTI leadership has approached Elahi in an effort to have a smooth sailing for its candidates contesting the upcoming the Senate elections from Punjab. The PTI has offered one seat to the PML-Q in the Senate. At present, the PML-Q has around 10 seats. Above 40 votes are required to elect one senator in the Punjab Assembly.
