PHOTO: EXPRESS LAHORE: On the eve of Labour Day, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has announced to fix the minimum wage of workers at Rs20,000. The chief minister said the welfare of the labourer and working-class was the top priority of the government and Punjab was the only province that has given the approval to fix the minimum wage at Rs20,000. He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting in connection with providing relief to the labourers at the CM s office. The labour secretary briefed the meeting about the steps being taken for the welfare of the workers.

Daily Times May 2, 2021 Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has announced to increase the minimum monthly wages of workers from Rs17,500 to Rs20,000 on the occasion of the World Labour Day. Presiding over a high-level meeting on Saturday, the chief minister said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has increased the minimum wage of workers by Rs5,000 in the last three years. The chief minister said the marriage grant for workers has been increased from Rs100,000 to Rs200,000 and death grant from Rs500,000 rupees to Rs600,000. He bashed that former rulers paid no attention to the welfare of workers and did not take any step in providing relief to this indigent class. He mentioned that former rulers added only Rs3,000 in the minimum wage of the labourers in their last five years tenure.
