Punjab cabinet paves way for deemed approval of regulatory clearances, auto-renewal for industrial projects ANI | Updated: Feb 19, 2021 22:43 IST
Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], February 19 (ANI): To facilitate new industrial projects to take off without delay, the Punjab Cabinet led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Friday gave the nod to amend the Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion Act, 2016 (PBIP Act, 2016) to incorporate provisions for automated deemed approval of various regulatory clearances.
Enabling the provision would not only expedite speedy approval/clearances but also assure industrial units of a time-frame within which clearances would be granted. With this Punjab becomes one of the few states to grant deemed approvals.
Ludhiana: Controversy has erupted over the upcoming dyeing industry’s common effluent treatment plant (CETP) project at Tajpur for the dyeing industry as several members of the Punjab Dyers Association (PDA) have opened a front against the other faction led by president Bobby Jindal, alleging that the latter and his associates are not allocating them share in discharge of water into the CETP according to their contribution. The aggrieved members on Wednesday organised a meeting at a city hotel against the other faction and levelled serious charges.

LUDHIANA: Solid waste management is going to be a tough task for the civic body in the coming days as the A2Z waste management company, which handles garbage lifting from secondary garbage collection dumps to be taken to the main dump and then process the solid waste, has served a notice to the civic body that they want to leave this work. Various deadlines have been fixed for solid waste management by the National Green Tribunal committee members and in the next two months the Swachhta Survekshan will also take place.
Now, it will be seen how the MC will be able to tackle the garbage lifting and then its processing at the plant. The company has given 45 days to the civic body and February 4 is the last day of the notice. The company has reasoned that the MC was delaying their payment and since June they did not get money. But sources revealed that even the company was unable to undertake the waste processing at the plant properly and fearing action from the Punjab Pollution Contro
