This month marks 47 years since I first fell in love with Colorado. Nearly a half century ago, my parents and sister closest to my age made my first trip from Florida to the Rocky Mountains. Iâll never forget the first time I saw the Front Range â it was a stormy afternoon as we drove toward Denver and the mountains, surrounded by clouds and illuminated by lightning, were truly magnificent.
We were traveling to visit my motherâs twin brother and his family. They were wonderful guides around their adopted city and took us to St. Maryâs Glacier, where this flatlander first saw snow! We also toured the Denver Art Museum and the then-named Denver Museum of Natural History (now known as the Denver Museum of Nature and Science), among other places since forgotten. Â

Leadership Los Alamos Application Deadline Is Extended
LLA News:
The application deadline for Leadership Los Alamos (LLA) has been extended to July 16 for the 2021-2022 class, set to begin Sept. 24.
LLA is a program designed for individuals who live or work in Los Alamos County and who are committed to assuming roles of responsibility in civic, charitable and governmental organizations.
Interested individuals are encouraged to apply regardless of their level of leadership experience and community involvement.
LLA is a nonprofit organization founded in 2003 to identify current and emerging leaders in the Los Alamos area, enhance their leadership skills, and deepen their knowledge of the challenges and opportunities facing our community. The program is dedicated to the development of informed leaders who understand issues, define problems, develop solutions, and achieve positions of higher responsibility in Los Alamos.
