Utah s FanX comic convention returning this year after skipping 2020 during COVID-19 pandemic

SALT LAKE CITY FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention is back this year, and organizers promise it will be bigger and better than ever. Utah s premier geek and pop culture fandom convention returns to the Salt Palace Convention Center from Sept. 16-18. Like many events, FanX was forced to take a break in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. But convention organizers said celebrities are eager to get back out and meet the fans once again this year. FanX founder and producer Dan Farr and other convention organizers celebrated Star Wars Day with a news conference Tuesday where they announced a few new events and happenings for this year s FanX.

The SETI Forward award provides scholarship funds to support the next generation of scientists pursuing SETI and astrobiology career opportunities and connects promising students with researchers. It also was the year that Tom and Marjorie Keesee bought Eagle Pizza and renamed it Eagles Villa Pizza, located smack dab in the town center. A lot has changed in New Albany, as the affluent suburb has experienced enviable commercial and residential growth, with the population soaring to about 11,000. Yet, Eagles Pizza, as it is known now, still is the same family-run, independent pizzeria that had only a small move – from a tiny building to its current nest at 2 N. High St. – a year later.

Yet Eagles Pizza still is the same family-run, independent pizzeria. It moved only once in 50 years, from a tiny building to its current nest at 2 N. High St. a year after the Keesees bought it. Owner Dennis Keesee, son of the founders, acknowledged 50 years is a long time in the restaurant business.
