Students and historians will study Amanda Gorman s inaugural poem The Hill We Climb following her breathtaking performance at the 2021 presidential inauguration.
Gorman, a 22-year-old and the nation s first youth poet laureate, read her work after the swearing in of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
In her six-minute performance, Gorman alluded to the works of great American writers and speakers like Maya Angelou, Frederick Douglass, Langston Hughes, and Abraham Lincoln.
On Wednesday, Jan. 20, Kamala Devi Harris and Joseph Robinnette Biden Jr. were sworn into office as the vice president and 46th president of the United States of America.
Former President Donald Trump broke precedent and refused to concede and attend the inauguration of Biden and Harris; however, former Vice President Mike Pence was in attendance. The 59th Inauguration Ceremony was opened by Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who spoke of the recent breach of Capitol Hill and passing the torch of democracy. Klobuchar said the celebration of a new president and the first African American and Asian American woman vice president would ârestore the soul of America.

th president of the USA. The inauguration ceremony was filled with hope and cheer as American citizens bid their farewell to former President Donald Trump.
The inauguration ceremony took place on 20
th January and it brought many historic moments to live. Kamala Harris became the first Indian-Jamaican-American and the first woman ever to become the Vice-President of America.
The ceremony was filled with hopeful speeches and performances from famous celebrities. Former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton attended the ceremony but Donald Trump decided to skip it.
