I had the great privilege of attending CPAC as a RedState contributor. It was my second go-round at the Conservative conference. The first time was in 2016 with my former channel Communities Digital News. I have to say, I was hesitant the first time because my impression of CPAC wasn’t favorable. From the Left’s constant skewering, and the Republican elite’s looking down on the “God, Guns, and Grassroots” vibe, I wasn’t sure it would be a place where I felt welcome.
Don’t get me wrong, I spend a good majority of my life being in places where am generally unwelcome I live in liberal Los Angeles after all! But to spend money to fly to D.C., and spend money on food, hotels, etc. to feel like an outsider was another thing. However, I did go, and felt like it was a good experience, but there was not a whole lot of melanin present; not a whole lot of diversity in residence.

(CNS News) The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), which describes itself as the largest and most influential gathering of conservatives in the world, honored the openly gay Scott Presler with its Ronald Reagan Award on Saturday, Feb. 27, in Orlando, Fla.
The Ronald Reagan Award was established to honor the often unnamed or overlooked conservative activists who work in the political trenches day after day to advance conservative ideas, policies, and candidates.
Scott Presler was given the award by CPAC because of his extensive work in organizing and helping to clean up parts of inner cities riddled with trash and abandoned property. Presler also engaged in political speeches and get-out-the-vote efforts on the streets and online to help re-elect Donald Trump in 2020.

For weeks, former Acting Director of National Intelligence and former Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell’s name has been floated as a possible candidate for California governor should a recall against Gavin Newsom qualify for the ballot. Grenell hasn’t been shy in shooting down the rumors, choosing instead to focus on ensuring the recall indeed qualifies for the ballot.
Even during remarks given during a Log Cabin Republicans event Friday, Grenell said that everyone’s attention right now should be on ensuring there are enough valid signatures on recall petitions to qualify it for the ballot, and only once that happens should there be a discussion of who should replace him. However, he promised that “The MAGA crowd will definitely have a voice in choosing the candidate.”

Log Cabin Republicans, which bills itself as “the nation’s largest Republican organization dedicated to representing LGBT conservatives and allies,” will exhibit at this week’s 2021 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
The conference, sponsored annually by The American Conservative Union (ACU), will be held from Thursday, February 25 through Sunday, February 28, 2021 at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando, Florida. The CPAC website lists Log Cabin Republicans (LCR) among this year’s exhibitors.
“Log Cabin Republicans are LGBT Republicans and straight allies who support equality under the law for all, free markets, individual liberty, limited government, and a strong national defense,” the Log Cabin Republicans website states.
