FREMONT - City officials hope the former Wolfe Paper Co. site attracts a new manufacturer and more high-paying jobs to Fremont, after a Bowling Green-based real estate company bought the building at auction last week.
Colliers of Cleveland conducted the auction, with its listing describing the 9.4-acre site as the home to Wolfe Paper Co. for more than 50 years, dating back to the 1960s.
Bob Gross, the city s economic development director, said the historic building covers 115,000 square feet, is zoned industrial, and had been sitting vacant for about three years.
Gross was one of about 30 people in attendance at the Wolfe auction, held April 8.

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) - In Daviess County, a new apartment complex could be coming later this year near the hospital at the corner of Daniels Lane and Hayden Road.
Developers tell us the reason why they want to build at this location is because it’s close to the hospital and other amenities.
County leaders say the Bowling Green-based developer, 5ive Financial LLC., wanted to build multi-family apartments, so they had to go through a re-zoning process.
The city of Bowling Green is working to get about $3 million in federal CARES Act money into the hands of city residents as quickly as possible through several initiatives.
âWhen you do it programatically, there are a lot of steps to be takenâ â on behalf of the city and applicants, said city Neighborhood and Community Services Director Brent Childers. âWe were not seeing the progress weâd like to seeâ in the funds getting into the community.
In an effort to get money in the hands of community members more quickly, the city took several steps at last weekâs city commission meeting.
