SouthCoast Communities Declare Parking Bans
The City of New Bedford parking ban will end at midnight on Monday, February 8.
A Winter Storm Warning has been declared for Sunday, with 4-8 inches of snow possible. Local communities have declared parking bans in order to help with the snow-clearing operations.
In New Bedford, the snow emergency parking ban will start at 6 a.m. on Sunday. Fall River has also declared a parking ban. It will start Sunday at 6 a.m. and last till Monday at 6 a.m.
Both cities are urging residents to park their vehicles in public lots or school parking lots in order to relieve congestion in their neighborhoods. Cars and trucks parked in violation of the parking ban will be ticketed and towed.
Ames
Due to the amount of snow forecast in the area, the City of Ames Snow Ordinance will go into effect 10 p.m. Thursday.
Snow routes are marked by red and white signs. Vehicles must be moved to off-street parking or to streets that are not designated snow routes.
It is important to remember the Snow Ordinance remains in effect until the streets are completely plowed from curb to curb,
and it has stopped snowing.
With the additional snow forecast, all Ames residents are asked to remove parked vehicles from residential streets, especially those parked on circles or cul-de-sacs. However, only those on snow routes are required to move them.
