(WWBT) - Work got underway Wednesday to ease the treacherous road conditions likely to come from this round of winter weather. Transportation crews are gearing up for more ice, and of course, more trees to fall over roadways. That’s why they’re telling drivers to avoid travel Thursday. It feels like Deja vu for many drivers who braved the roads during the last ice storm. “I take my time. I just take my time,” Lisa Goode said.

(KFVS) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reports that a jackknifed SEMI is blocking the westbound lanes of Interstate 24 near the 60 mile marker in Trigg County. Estimated duration is three hours. The detour for this section of I-24 is via the U.S. 68 Cadiz Exit 65 Interchange to U.S. 68 eastbound, then north on KY 139 to return to I-24 at the KY 139 Cadiz-Princeton Exit 56 Interchange.

That’s the message early Wednesday morning from the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office reports that the bridges on I-24 are completely iced-over, as well as other roadways. Highway crews are out in force spreading salt on scattered trouble spots. Slick spots were also reported along U.S. 45 in the Lone Oak area and near the I-24 Exit 7 interchange, as well as along U.S. 60 into Ballard County.
