12 Migrants Detained, One Found Dead on Florida Beach After Boat Intercepted

Legal authorities are investigating an attempted migrant landing involving a 28-foot boat in Jupiter Beach, Florida.
Authorities found 13 undocumented Haitian migrants connected to the suspected smuggling vessel. One of the migrants was found dead and floating in the water nearby, according to WPFB. It s not yet clear how or when they died.
The vessel was first spotted on Wednesday near midnight. It appeared 40 yards offshore near the Jupiter Reef Club, an oceanfront property, WPTV reported.
Three Haitian men jumped overboard as U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials approached the vessel. Though CPB apprehended all 12 living migrants, they reportedly questioned two of them for further information.

JUPITER The Palm Beach County Sheriff s Office is assisting U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents in investigating the death of man found floating in the Atlantic off the coast of Jupiter early Wednesday.
The man was one of three who jumped off a boat with which Border Patrol agents had come into contact about 40 yards offshore, south of Carlin Park, PBSO said in a news release. His body was found floating nearby.

A body was recovered floating in the ocean, near where a group of undocumented migrants were attempting to come ashore on Wednesday morning in Jupiter.
According to an update from the Palm Beach County Sheriff s Office:
During the early morning hours, Customs Border Patrol came into contact with Haitian immigrants about 40 yards offshore of Jupiter Beach.
As the boat was attempting to flee, three Haitian males jumped overboard. Two were later taken into custody.
One was found floating nearby.
PBSO Detectives are assisting Federal Agencies with this death investigation.
