The man was convicted on one count of assault with a deadly weapon in 2011. Court documents reveal that incident involved a knife. Two years before that, a similar conviction was handed down in Los Angeles County.
On Saturday the Riverside County Sheriff released information indicating that the man had prior criminal history that prevented him from carrying a firearm in the first place.

On Saturday authorities released new details on the case, stating that the agent was not properly licensed and had a criminal record, which prohibited him from carrying a firearm.
At 2:11 a.m. Palm Springs Police were called out to the Indian Canyon Gardens condominium complex on the 100 block of E. Via Escuela and Indian Canyon Drive. According to police, they were notified 3 times; the first notification came from a a Ring panic alarm, the second came from the resident who was reporting a break-in, and the third came from a bail agent who said he was on scene attempting to take someone into custody.

A man accused of driving drunk and causing a crash that killed his passenger in Palm Springs pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to several felony charges.
Joshua Lamar Woods, 30, of Desert Hot Springs was arrested shortly after the vehicle he was driving struck a steel pole on Indian Canyon Drive near Garnet Avenue about 1:20 a.m. Monday, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.
His passenger, 30-year-old Laprea Hardister of Desert Hot Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Woods was arraigned at the Banning Justice Center before Riverside County Superior Court Judge Alfonso Fernandez, who scheduled a felony settlement conference for May 3 at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.

Riverside County Sheriff s Department says that a suspect was killed during a shooting in Palm Springs during an effort to detain a wanted person.
RSO tweeted in part, Preliminary info: Bail Agents were involved in a shooting while apprehending a fugitive. Suspect is deceased.
Police were at a condominium complex early Friday morning where there appeared to be an investigation underway. It was not immediately clear which law enforcement agency was heading that investigation.
A woman was seen in handcuffs outside a unit at the complex. A representative from the Riverside County District Attorney s Office was also on scene.
