Roznama Ummat, which is considered a pro-Taliban publication, reported on May 4, 2021: According to [
Roznama]
Ummat s confirmed sources, for a safe exit from Afghanistan, America has made secret payments of crores [a unit equal to 10 million] of dollars to the Taliban to ensure the safe transfer of [U.S.] troops to Bagram [Airbase] from [the other] bases in Bagram, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Helmand, and Mazar-e-Sharif, and from the Shindand [district of] Herat.
The purpose of the payments,
Roznama Ummat said, is to ensure that the Taliban do not target the U.S. military s trucks and planes carrying weapons; and they will also be protected from other armed groups. The pro-Taliban daily added: According to the sources, the five bases for which the Taliban have been paid two crore [ i.e., 20 million] dollars each are Bagram, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Herat, and Helmand.
