Sri Lanka Tourism‘s International Travel Blogger & Journalist Program to support SME’s

The “Visiting Travel Blogger and Journalist Programme” is an annual project which Sri Lanka Tourism hosts in order to diversify and spread the visitation of foreign travelers visiting the country and also generate income for Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Sri Lanka. Over time, the consistent pattern of international travelers has been limited to areas like Sigiriya, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Yala. However, through the visiting blogger and journalist programs, interest has been created to popularize the lesser known attractions such as the Jaffna Peninsula, Pidurangala, Wilpattu, Riverstone-Matale, Seelogama – Belihuloya, Bandarawela, Monaragala, Maligathenna-Gampaha, Ridi Viharaya- Kurunegala, Diyaluma Falls, Kondagala-Kandy and Tangalle in Sri Lanka. Thus, more experience driven opportunities and diversity will be created and added to a visitor’s expedit

‘Taking the Golden Circle route: My Icelandic adventure continues’

Despite feeling full of energy after the soak in the thermal pool, I woke up feeling yuck. As you’d expect, this was the best breakfast buffet yet, but I dared not risk it. I did have a cup of tea and some scrambled eggs though. My daughter Stacey had freshly made waffles! I dined on the aromas.

Our first stop on the famous Golden Circle route was Skógafoss, a beautiful waterfall on the Skógá River about 60 metres (200 feet) high and 25m (82ft) wide. Next stop was another waterfall (Seljalandsfoss), where in summer you can walk in behind the veil of water, though it was not recommended in the freezing temperatures of which we were travelling. It was about the same height as Skógafoss, but was split in two.
