Pritzker signed Medicaid legislation into law July 6 that immediately opens Medicaid eligibility to uninsured state residents in need of kidney transplants providing them equitable access to lifesaving surgeries. Praising the passage and the governor s signature of Senate Bill 2294 are Illinois organ donation and health equity advocates including Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network officials, Illinois Transplant Fund leadership, Rep. Elizabeth Hernandez (D-Cicero) and Sen. Hollingsworth, executive vice president of external relations for the nonprofit, had served as interim president and CEO since March 5 while a national search for a new top executive was underway. She succeeds David Bosch, who had served as president since 2018 and was named CEO in 2019. He left in March to become chief marketing and communications officer for Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network in Illinois. Hollingworthjoined Eversight in 2010 as executive director for eye bank operations and administration in Illinois. She went on to serve as vice president of partner relations before taking on her most recent role.

Edward-Elmhurst Health urges community to register as organ donors

  Posted4/7/2021 11:07 AM During National Donate Life Month in April, Edward-Elmhurst Health is encouraging members of the community to register at www.registerme.org/EEHealth as organ, eye and tissue donors and to honor those that have saved lives through the gift of donation. Edward-Elmhurst s request is part of its participation with Gift of Hope in the national Hospital Organ Donation Campaign.   This initiative, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and Health Resources and Services Administration, runs through April 30. The program s goal is to help expand awareness about the benefits of organ and tissue donation and increase donor registration. Since the program s inception in 2011, the campaign has generated more than 552,000 donor registrations.

The Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network Thursday launched its “Care4RCommunity” initiative by celebrating National Donor Day with a donation to Dream Center Peoria. Gift of Hope Senior Community Outreach Specialist Lisa Dodson and Peoria County Coroner & Peoria LifeSaving Leader Jamie Harwood presented Executive Director of the Dream Center Peoria Andy King with a $500 donation. “The Dream Center connects people right where they’re at, and they help them move in a direction in a positive way in their life with providing them the resources that most people take for granted every single day,” said Harwood.
