Welcome home! Adrian family, others dedicate new Habitat for Humanity house

ADRIAN An Adrian mother of two was on the receiving end of a home dedication and Faith Build ribbon-cutting Sunday.
Emily Newell, along with her children Tegan, 12, and Elijah, 8, were officially welcomed home Sunday to their newly constructed East Maple Avenue home, sponsored by Habitat for Humanity of Lenawee County. The ribbon-cutting event, while normally open to the entire community, was scaled back in attendance because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The site of the Faith Build home officially broke ground during an August 2020 ceremony, according to Habitat for Humanity construction manager Doug Straub. The nearly completed residence was celebrated with Sunday’s ribbon-cutting.
Local Filipinos to celebrate 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines
AMERICAN CANYON Local Filipinos will celebrate 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines at 1 p.m. Sunday.
The Holy Family Catholic Church, through the leadership of The Rev. Fred Kutubebi, welcomes all to 200 Antonina Ave.
Guests will be entertained after the church service with folk dancing performed by parishioners.
“This Christian message is at the heart of every Filipino’s lived experience as a people and as a nation,” said a press release for the event. “This is a source of great joy that continues to sustain and renew our lives. Pope Francis himself referred to this joy as he presided over the Eucharistic celebration on March 14 at St. Peter’s Basilica.”
PARISH - The graveside service for Doris J. Parish will be held on Saturday, May 22, at 2 PM in Grove Cemetery, LaFargeville. Mrs. Parish, 81, of Evans Mills died February 17, 2021.
