Memorial Hospital Miramar was the only South Florida facility in the watchdog’s Spring 2021 straight “A” class of 27 hospitals, meaning it has scored an “A” on every report card since the group began grading hospitals in 2012.
The group says that straight “A” hospitals were far better prepared in the painstaking fight against COVID-19 due to their focus on patient safety as a top institutional priority.
“Hospitals with a consistent pattern of protecting patients from errors, accidents, and injuries, like these straight ‘A’ hospitals, seem to have been more prepared when the pandemic hit,” said Leah Binder, the watchdog group’s president and CEO.

The D.C.-Baltimore region is known for some of the best hospitals and some of the most innovative medicine in the nation, and that shines through in U.S. News & World Report’s latest ranking of the nation’s best hospitals.
For the 21st year in a row, Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore was named the #1 hospital in the nation. The distinction is based on rankings in 16 different categories used by U.S. News. Of those 16 categories, Hopkins placed in the top three in 13 of them, including #1 ranking s in Neurology & Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, Urology, Rheumatology and Ear, Nose and Throat.

He was found in the backyard of a residence in the 8300 block of South Peoria Street, with a gunshot wound to the chest. The man was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead.
Less than an hour prior, a 31-year-old man was shot to death in Ashburn on the South Side. The man was driving about 9:20 p.m. in the 8300 block of South Keating Avenue, when someone got out of a green-colored SUV and fired shots, police said. He was struck in the face and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead.

A 15-year-old boy was shot Sunday evening in Chicago s Englewood neighborhood, police said.
The shooting was reported at approximately 6:25 p.m. in the 2000 block of West 70th Place. According to authorities, the victim was on the sidewalk when he heard shots and felt pain. He sustained one gunshot wound to the foot and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital where he was reported to be in good condition. Don t miss local breaking news and weather!
