A WOMAN who drowned in a town centre brook was not the victim of an attack, an inquest has heard. However, a coroner examining the death of Sandra Chadwick said it was impossible to say whether she slipped and fell into Alum House Brook in Darwen or if she had gone into the water deliberately. The 64-year-old mother-of-three, grandmother and great-grandmother, had been missing since January 12, 2019, before her body was eventually found seven weeks later in the body of water, just off Union Street. Police confirmed that the body was that of Mrs Chadwick on March 9, 2019. They had made repeated appeals about her disappearance.
